The Opera Giving Circle is a group of opera lovers committed to enabling a new phase of operatic and artistic excellence, supporting our ambitions to realise performances of profound operatic works with some of the world’s most distinguished soloists.
Since 2019 we have regularly partnered with world-class singers to create ground-breaking, semi-staged and concert performances of classic operas. Our performances of opera in the concert hall offer audiences an unparalleled intimacy with the singers and musicians, laying bare the drama of extraordinary works such as Janáček’s Jenůfa (January 2024).
Join the Opera Giving Circle to make possible ambitious future productions of the highest quality. Supporters enjoy a range of special benefits bringing them closer to the performance.
When we first started playing these operas together, I realised that this is music that suits the LSO so perfectly, with their virtuosity, passion, and their sense of humour and refinement. There is something very powerful about having the Orchestra right there, because so often the Orchestra is saying what the singers are just unable to say – and in a concert performance we have this in close-up.
